We arrived at the apartments, parked the car right out front and walked up the few steps to the apartment where we were greeted by a very welcoming and friendly Anne who owns the apartments along with her husband Alan, who was soon introduced to us. After the formal introductions and welcome, Anne escorted us to Casa Rosa apartment where we were staying and proceeded to give us a full guided tour.
After a short time Anne left us to familiarize ourselves with our new surroundings which we did with great awe. All four of us immediately agreed Casa Rosa was the most wonderful and well-equipped apartment any of us had ever had the pleasure of staying in. It had everything you could wish for. Owners that practically live next door if you need them, a welcome tray of refreshments that included wine, bottled water, tea, coffee, sugar, milk, bread, butter and a selection of jams, everything you need to help you relax after the journey.
The interior of Casa Rosa was exquisite, with its luxury furnishings, wonderful fully fitted kitchen, superb marble bathroom and en-suite, spacious balcony and its very own private rooftop terrace with breathtaking views over the town of Nerja. The shared pool was fantastic and just what you need on those hot days to cool off a little - and more often than not, it was empty.
I could spend the next week writing about the apartments and what a wonderful holiday we had but I think I will let you discover for yourself what a wonderful place it is. All I ask is that you book early to avoid disappointment, and if you can, try not to book the first two weeks in September - that is when I hope to return. But hey! First come first served.

Thank you for providing such a beautiful place for our holiday and for greeting us with personal warmth to match Nerja's picture-perfect coastal weather.
Liz, the work-alcoholic of our threesome, said it was perhaps the best "real" vacation she'd had in years; Lynn still talks about her spin in your roadster, and I can close my eyes and see the beautiful vista from the Casa Carmen terrace. All three of us agreed that we'd love to return to Nerja again and again, and for a longer time each time!
We were sad to leave, but our return home was as pleasant as one could expect when packed in a flying tin can. Today we're back to real life, but that seems a bit easier now that we have such beautiful, fun memories of our vacation in Spain. My first errand today will be to get some travel photos printed to show off to my friends.
Thank you for the wine and food basket and for the many ways you insured that our time there was a perfect vacation. Casa Carmen was lovely and offered all we needed. Soon I'll have the photos to prove it! If I can learn how to get my new digital camera to transmit them, I'll send one or two to you.

One of the nice things about having in-residence owners is that it can often lead to unexpected bonuses. Soon after we arrived at Casa Robinson, Alan unveiled his favorite toy that had just arrived from England. The toy was a Grinnell Scorpion, a very limited edition open-wheeled roadster that looks exactly like a big silver scorpion.
The Scorpion has two bug-eye headlights, a sleek body that narrows into a 'tail' in the rear, 2 seats, 2 five-point shoulder harnesses, 2 roll bars, no roof, 2 wheels in the front and only one in the back, 5 speeds forward and no reverse gear. Two adults can barely squeeze into the right-hand drive cockpit.
The Scorpion goes from zero to sixty in something like 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 150 mph, though Alan admitted that he has never driven it over 146.
Alan invited me to go for a spin early one evening and, after squeezing my size 7 3/8 head into a visored crash helmet, we were ready to terrorize the tarmac. The aerodynamic helmet and visor were necessary, Alan said, not only for safety, but so that one could hold one's head steady at high speed in the buffeting wind.
Heads turned and tourist cameras snapped as we rolled towards the highway. Alan told me to tap him on the shoulder if I felt "uncomfortable" with his driving. I never had to tap, thanks in part to the twisting highway which skirts the coastline east of Nerja which kept our speed under 100(mph). Alan kept the Scorpion well under control, and the only time I became concerned was on the return trip heading west into the setting sun when the sun-glare reduced visibility to a squint. The glare did not deter Alan from passing car after car around the mountain curves, however, one hand on the wheel as the Scorpion strained to grip the asphalt and one hand shielding his sight from the glare.
When we returned to the apartment, I asked Alan if he had ever broken the rear wheel loose and lost control.
"I've only rolled it over twice," he said, "so far."
